MIT designs snake-inspired enteroscope tested in animal studies

Inspired by snakes, MIT engineers designed a soft enteroscope that an operator guides through the small intestine. MIT News reports that it traveled about 6.5 feet in animal studies and demonstrated a camera, drug sprayer and tissue clips. The researchers are working on navigation; the reported results come from animal studies, not a procedure demonstrated in people.
