The thing that worked better for me than motivation (and it's easier)
For years, I thought I needed to feel motivated every day. If I didn't feel pumped up, I thought something was wrong with me. So I tried harder with strict schedules and more pressure. Nothing worked.
Then I read something somewhere, maybe a blog or a quote, that said you don't need to feel motivated first. That stuck with me.
Instead of asking "How do I force myself to work?" I started asking better questions.
What do I want to get better at?
What feels good, not just looks good?
What drains me and what gives me energy?
Once I focused on where I was going instead of forcing myself, things got easier.
I wasn't trying to be perfect.
I just showed up to get a little better, and that felt possible even on bad days.
Now I just ask myself simple stuff.
What's worth my time tomorrow?
What can I do even with zero motivation?
What's one thing I won't regret?
Funny thing is, once I stopped chasing motivation, I got way more consistent.
Anyone else notice this? What helped you keep going without burning out?
