Air Force maintenance staff go on knife-buying frenzy
“Everyone knew we didn’t need them.”
Air Force maintenance staff have been using taxpayer funds to purchase high-end luxury knives, despite a lack of maintenance use, according to The Intercept. Over the past decade, maintenance units have spent over $1.79 million on 5,166 knives and other luxury items, including switchblades and tactical combat knives. The knives, which cost hundreds of dollars each, were often obtained through the supply system and handed out as favors. The practice of purchasing these non-essential items has raised concerns about frivolous spending and lack of oversight within the Air Force.
