China gives green light to importing first batch of Nvidia's H200 AI chips

China has approved the import of the first batch of Nvidia's H200 AI chips, covering several hundred thousand units, according to two people familiar with the matter. This approval, granted during a visit by Nvidia Chief Executive Jensen Huang, signifies a strategic shift as China balances its AI needs with the promotion of domestic development. The initial batch has been allocated to three major Chinese internet companies, with other enterprises awaiting subsequent approvals.
