Linux after Linus? The kernel community finally drafts a plan for replacing Torvalds
Mind you, Linus told me he has no plans whatsoever to retire, but if something were to happen to him, there's a way in place to replace him now.
The Linux community has drafted a project-continuity plan to replace Linus Torvalds as the top-level maintainer if something were to happen to him or if he were to retire. The plan does not name a single heir but instead creates a process for selecting successors, including convening a conclave to weigh options and maximize long-term project health. Torvalds has no plans to retire and remains firmly in place as the overseer of mainline development.
