[hot-take]Engagement based communities > topics based for posters
As the mod of both Diggslife pro tips(150 members) and hot takes (20 members) I actually like hot takes a lot more.
I don’t feel like I’m talking to the void, even when my views are flawed or deeply unpopular: I like the conversations.
Whereas for topics ones like finance or memes or [insert location] you get a lot of upvotes but a lot less substance in terms of comments . Sometimes it feels like a chore
This take is obv anecdotal and some people find getting community via topics is awesome. But i find topics can get very boring as if there’s a limit of content available on the internet for certain communities
