TLDR

Stallion83 posted that Ubisoft is not participating in the Xbox disc-to-digital program and later noted Square Enix is also absent. Insider Gaming reported the same finding after players discovered they could not convert physical copies. Replies on X mentioned SEGA and Bandai Namco titles also failing to appear. The posts include screenshots of failed redemptions and link to the Insider Gaming article stating the two publishers are not taking part.

@Stallion83Ubisoft is not participating in the Xbox disc-to-digital program. I really hope they reconsider.
@SackboyFXLMAO this cant be a thing devs opt in or out of.
@Crusader3456@SackboyFX If you look at the games thst are and aren't working you can clearly see that it is as Ubisoft, SEGA, Bandai Namco, and Square Enix have 0 titles that work.
@LarryBundyJrUbisoft have picked their ball up and gone home. They don't want to be involved in Microsoft's "Disc to Digital" initiative. EDIT: Apparently, Square Enix, and Bandai Namco have also. #gaming #ubisoft #microsoft #xbox #StopKillingGames

@RinoTheBouncerUbisoft and Square Enix appear to be opting out of Microsoft / XBOX’s disc-to-digital conversion system🚀 Players attempting to redeem digital access for their physical games by Ubisoft and Square Enix are unable to proceed with the redemption process. It appears that the two entities aren’t either: A) Not interested in the all-digital future B) Not interested in missing out on digital sales, and refuse to give players a free digital copy just because they a physical one C) They’re still arranging for the process We need to keep up the pressure, because if it is option B, then when the next generation ends up launching as “digital only” you will have to re-purchase all your physical games from these studios, and others who might choose to opt out of this program Do not give up on game ownership Do not cave in to the cheap attempts to demoralize you into thinking your voice doesn’t matter You are the customer. You hold the money NO DISC 💿 NO BUY
@Pirat_NationIt looks like Ubisoft isn’t participating in Xbox’s Disc-to-Digital program, Of course, considering Ubisoft has previously said that gamers need to get “feeling comfortable” with not owning the games they’re playing. The same appears to apply to Square Enix, which also isn’t currently participating. When trying to convert one of their physical games, Xbox shows “Digital license unavailable”, you can’t turn that physical copy into a digital license. Disgusting, hope they can reconsider it

@JtheFrog0Wow, who could have guessed that UBISOFT of all companies doesn’t support game preservation. Even tho, there is not a single downside to support this program.
@XCTdotLIVEALERT: @Ubisoft has just been added to the Disc to Digital program Our legendary member @xboxarchiver is testing them now but we already have Far Cry 6, Assassin's Creed Odyssey and Ezio Trilogy confirmed! Keep https://xct.live/disc2digital bookmarked through tomorrow for more 😎
