Deadlock reached an all-time high of 262,145 concurrent Steam players on October 9, according to SteamDB. That put it 8,148 players above Team Fortress 2's record of 253,997, set on July 13, 2023.

The comparison is between peak simultaneous players on Steam, not lifetime players or total accounts. The new high landed the same day Solomon became playable. The unDeadlock patch tracker describes him as a chess-themed hero built around bishops, a knight barrier, rook pairs and a queen ultimate. The timing lines up, but the player-count data does not establish that Solomon alone caused the spike.

Valve's City Never Sleeps update page describes a much wider overhaul with six new heroes, a redesigned map, new neutral creatures and interface changes. It also says Deadlock remains in early development, with access limited to friend invites from existing playtesters. The Steam record therefore arrived before a public release.
