BeamNG.drive will release for PlayStation 5 on October 19, 2026, bringing the long-running vehicle simulator to a console for the first time. The PlayStation Store lists a 2 p.m. UTC launch and labels the game as Early Access, meaning development will continue after release with feedback from players.
The Store lists offline play for one to four people, along with DualSense vibration and trigger effects. It also identifies 17 accessibility features, including full control remapping, adjustable stick sensitivity, game-speed options and a practice mode.
A simulator built around deforming vehicles
BeamNG.drive is best known for crashes, but the machinery underneath is the real attraction. BeamNG CEO Thomas Fischer explained that each vehicle is simulated as a network of nodes and beams. Those parts can flex, deform or break under load, allowing handling and damage to emerge from the simulation instead of a scripted crash animation. The engine reevaluates each vehicle 2,000 times per second.
The PlayStation edition includes 12 open-world environments and a broad spread of activities. Free Roam lets players experiment with vehicles, objects and environmental settings, while structured modes include races, time trials, deliveries and police chases. The developer also describes roughly 1,000 vehicle configurations, ranging from sports cars and everyday sedans to buses, heavy machinery and off-road trucks. Individual vehicles can be tuned through parts such as engines, suspension, tires and drivetrains.
Bringing the sandbox to a controller
BeamNG first confirmed the PS5 version in May without a date. In that development announcement, the studio called its first console port one of the most complex projects it had undertaken. The work involved performance, controls, interface and usability, all areas that affect whether a systems-heavy PC sandbox feels natural from a couch.
The Early Access label makes clear that October 19 is not the end of that work. The Store says buyers will be able to play while BeamNG continues improving and expanding the game. It does not currently state a price, confirm mod support or promise feature parity with the PC edition.
