TLDR

Discord has brought DM pinning to its desktop app and expanded channel pinning from Community Servers to every server. Existing mobile DM pins carry over, while pinned server channels move to the top of the individual user's channel list without changing anyone else's view. The company says the updates grew out of more than 3,000 responses to a May request for ideas. The same batch includes fuller profile-picture viewing and moderation improvements for audit logs, member pruning and role duplication, while a larger group-DM cap remains in development.

Discord is making it easier to keep busy conversations within reach. The company says DM pinning is now available in its desktop app, with conversations previously pinned on mobile carrying over automatically.

Channel pinning is also expanding beyond Community Servers. Any user can now place favorite channels at the top of the channel list in any server, including smaller personal servers. The choice is private to that user, so it reorganizes their own view without rearranging the server for everyone else.

Discord tied the changes to a feature-request push it launched around its 11th birthday in May. The company says those posts drew millions of views and more than 3,000 responses, then assigned a dedicated engineering group to work through the requests.

The resulting batch extends beyond conversation organization. Moderators can now use Mod View and the Audit Log for former members, including people who were kicked or banned. Server operators also get a setting that reserves member pruning for admins, plus the ability to duplicate roles.

Other smaller changes include opening profile pictures at full size, keeping desktop search pagination visible, showing when two users became friends, adding alt text or spoiler labels to attachments after sending, bulk-leaving old group DMs, expanding profile bios to 300 characters and copying links directly from the GIF picker.

Not every popular request has shipped. Discord says it is still developing an increased group-DM member cap, which may first appear as an experiment.
