A consumer-led policy
Nintendo Latin America vice president and general manager Bill van Zyll said Nintendo currently has “no plans to ditch physical” games. Speaking with YouTube channel Coelho no Japão, he described the company as historically “agnostic” between physical and digital formats and said consumer preference weighs heavily in its decisions.
Switch 2 supports both formats
Van Zyll pointed to Switch 2, which supports digital and physical releases, and said Nintendo knows how much fans value physical games. The comment describes the company’s current approach rather than a permanent guarantee about every future platform or release.
Physical does not always mean a full cartridge
On Switch 2, physical releases can include both full cartridges and Game-Key Cards. That distinction matters for collectors: Nintendo’s commitment to offering a physical format does not promise that every boxed game will contain the complete game on its card.
