Sony reportedly discontinues its last standalone UHD Blu-ray player in Japan

Kotaku, citing a report from Sony retailer Kunkoku spotted by FlatpanelsHD, says sales of the UBP-X700/K were ending in Japan on October 22, 2026. Sony's Japanese store listed the player as out of stock and said it would not be restocked. Kotaku says the PS5 remains a UHD Blu-ray option in Japan, but Sony's plans for the standalone player outside Japan were unclear.
