TOEM 2 arrived on PlayStation 5 on September 29, bringing back the original game's quiet mix of photography, exploration and oddball favors. PlayStation's launch announcement describes a journey built around using a camera to solve puzzles, uncover secrets and document a cozy world.
The sequel comes from developer Something We Made. Its official Steam description says the new adventure is designed for returning players and people entering the series for the first time, so prior knowledge of the original is not part of the pitch.
The camera does more than collect pictures
Players again explore a stylized black-and-white world as a roaming photographer, but the camera now has attachments that help solve different problems in each region. That expands its role beyond framing a requested subject: photographs can expose hidden details, advance puzzles and record the strange natural events known as TOEMs.
Movement is also more involved. The product page describes running, jumping and climbing through new environments to find tucked-away paths, viewpoints and small visual clues. Along the way, players meet new characters and creatures, complete errands and add discoveries to a critter compendium.
Those activities feed into the sequel's progression. Finished quests and documented discoveries earn stamps for the player's journal, and those stamps function as tickets to the next region. The loop ties exploration to advancement without turning every photograph into a checklist item.
Built to move at the player's pace
Something We Made says TOEM 2 has no time limits or difficult requirements for reaching full completion. The page explicitly encourages players to sit on a bench, listen to the music and wander toward whatever catches the camera's attention.
That relaxed structure is central to the pitch, not just decoration around the puzzles. The sequel adds more movement and more uses for the camera while keeping the option to linger in a region, help its residents and fill out the journal before moving on. On PS5, that complete journey is available now.
