Sega Created Android Sonic for Fortnite to Avoid Gun Restrictions

Takashi Iizuka, head of Sonic Team, said the team built an android version of Sonic for Fortnite because the original character will never hold a gun. Multiple accounts report that Epic first approached Sega more than two years ago, but the collaboration only moved forward after the robot redesign. The change also covers Knuckles and Shadow. The official Sonic account posted about new merchandise showing the android characters.
