Save Mass Effect petition asks EA to continue development or consider licensing the franchise

Joe Smith’s #SaveMassEffect petition asks EA to continue developing Mass Effect or consider licensing the franchise’s intellectual property to another studio. The Change.org page dates the petition to Oct. 21, 2026.

The petition calls for “proper funding, adequate staffing, and time allocation” if EA commits to continued development. Licensing is presented as an alternative for EA to consider, not a step the company has taken.

A snapshot of the Change.org page displays 62,899 verified signatures, but it has no capture date. In posts on Oct. 23, IGN reported that the petition had hit 50,000 signatures at 16:01 UTC, and GameRant reported that it had passed 57,000 at 16:30 UTC. Both outlets described BioWare as closed in those posts, which did not include a statement from EA or BioWare about the studio or the franchise’s future.
