TLDR

Microsoft announced monthly playtime caps for Xbox Cloud Gaming that begin in November. Game Pass Ultimate gets 15 hours, Premium gets 10 hours, and Essential gets 5 hours. Users can buy additional cloud hours once the limit is reached. The company is also adding a pay-as-you-go option open to anyone without a subscription. Outlets including The Verge, IGN, Game Informer, and GameSpot reported the changes. One analyst noted the caps will affect only 4 percent of current Game Pass subscribers.

@tomwarrenMicrosoft is opening up Xbox Cloud Gaming to anyone next month with a new pay-as-you-go option. It's part of an effort to tempt more people without an Xbox into the company's gaming ecosystem. Details 👇 https://www.theverge.com/news/989211/microsoft-xbox-cloud-gaming-pay-as-you-go-option
@ZhugeEXAn interesting stat that these time limits will only "impact 4% of Game Pass subscribers." Which is indicative of how Game Pass subscribers currently use cloud gaming, as an extension of existing play on console / PC, rather than a primary entry point for games.
