Monster Hunter Wilds will target 30 frames per second in every Nintendo Switch 2 configuration when it arrives December 4. Capcom's newly published specifications include two docked options and one handheld setting, but even the mode labeled to prioritize frame rate keeps the same 30fps target.
In TV mode, the resolution-priority option outputs at 2240x1260, while the frame-rate-priority option lowers that to 1920x1080. Handheld play uses a single 1536x864 output setting. Nintendo Everything's breakdown of Capcom's table also confirms that ray tracing is unavailable across the Switch 2 version.
Those figures describe output resolution, not necessarily the resolution at which every frame is rendered internally. Modern games can reconstruct a higher-resolution image from a lower internal resolution, so the published numbers should not be treated as a direct measure of image quality or as proof that Switch 2 outperforms another console.
The two TV modes prioritize different tradeoffs
The identical 30fps listing does not make the docked modes interchangeable. The lower-resolution frame-rate option is designed to give the hardware more room to maintain its target, while the resolution mode spends more of the available budget on the final image. Nintendo Life notes that Capcom warns frame rates may fall during high-load scenes.
That caveat matters for Monster Hunter Wilds, which has faced performance criticism on other platforms since its original release. The Switch 2 specifications describe Capcom's targets; real-world testing will determine how consistently each mode meets them during crowded hunts and effects-heavy battles.
Capcom announced the Switch 2 edition for December 4 as part of its broader multi-platform strategy. It brings the large-scale hunting game to a portable system, but players looking for a 40fps or 60fps performance preset will not find one among the configurations Capcom has listed.
