IGN reports that Zach Cregger admitted he was “naive” to think fans would universally welcome his less-direct approach to adapting Resident Evil. He deliberately chose to avoid retelling the story exactly as it unfolds in the games. IGN also quotes him saying, “I understand the frustration.”
