TLDR

HuntressGia posted that eight years of wearing a gaming headset too long and too tight thinned her hair. She announced plans to switch to wired earbuds for PC gaming and asked readers to respond kindly since the post spread beyond her circle. Several replies described matching problems with hair breakage at the top of the head, which the writers linked to their own headphones. Suggestions in the thread included satin or silk covers for the headband and wearing a bonnet during sessions.

@HuntressGiagamer girlies I’m coming to you from a place of love: swap out your gaming headset right tf now to prevent hair thinning. I’m buying wired earbuds meant for pc gaming because 8 years of wearing a headset is catching up to me
@aunderI finally bought into the hype about switching back to wired headphones since my AirPods are always dead when I need them anyway. How are more if you’re not complaining about the realization that the wires are complete chaos? Every time I reach into my bag, even if not for my headphones, I end up pulling half of the contents of my bag out somehow tied up in the wires. How are you living like this? Here’s an idea: let’s just give up on talking on the phone in public places and then we don’t need any of this.
@R2Pichu@HuntressGia I just wear my hair bonnet when I game or im at home so I dont have this issue I fear. Stay away from razer products or headsets that make your head hurt or feel tight also could help lol
@bunnydollxo@HuntressGia The top of my hair has been breaking off so bad and I’m pretty sure it’s from my headphones 😩
@KaymievtHas anyone come up with some sort of satin cover or anything for headphones? I don't wanna always have to wear a bonnet for protection 🫩
@ir9neeei think an insane alternative to this if you hate earbuds for gaming (i wish i liked them but they never have the spacial audio accuracy i need) is to go to a fabric store or repurpose satin/silk fabric you have in the house into a cover for the headband!!! could be cute too
