Composer Mick Gordon told IGN at PAX Australia that he remains open to working on Doom again, but only if the circumstances align.
Scene Gamers’ account of the interview quotes Gordon as saying that “many dominoes would have to fall in a very specific way.” If they did, he said he would return “within a heartbeat,” adding that he has ideas for where he could take the series’ music next.
Gordon did not identify those conditions, and neither report announces a new project or an agreement with id Software. The possibility follows a public fallout after his work on Doom Eternal, but his answer leaves the door open without suggesting a reunion is underway.
Scene Gamers also reports that Gordon contributed music to the final boss fight in Warhammer 40,000: Boltgun 2, due Oct. 14, and is composing the soundtrack for the cyberpunk squad shooter Defect. He is also scheduled to perform music from Doom and Doom Eternal with a full live band at the U.K.’s RADAR Festival in 2027.
