Rockstar says Grand Theft Auto VI will launch Nov. 19, one day before The Game Awards' eligibility deadline of Nov. 20 at 9 p.m. PT. Under the current schedule, that makes GTA 6 eligible for consideration at the Dec. 10 ceremony.
Eligibility does not guarantee a nomination or award. The jury still decides whether a game warrants recognition for creative or technical excellence.
The awards' rules allow publishers to provide participating outlets with advance or prerelease copies so critics can evaluate games before ballot deadlines. That general policy does not confirm which journalists have received GTA 6, how long they may have had it or whether the game will win any category.
