Zach Cregger Finds Fans Want Direct Resident Evil Game Retellings

Zach Cregger said he is sorry his Resident Evil movie is not the story fans wanted from the games. He explained the choice to keep the film grounded, avoiding a jacked character in a trench coat because its origin would be unclear, and noted the T-Virus mutations already provide enough mutations. Cregger admitted he was naive to assume fans would approve of an original approach rather than a direct adaptation. He mentioned having ideas for other stories in the same universe but said the current movie has not yet come out.
