Hello Games is bringing No Man’s Sky to iPhone and iPad on Oct. 28. Digital Foundry reports that the 5GB port will support devices as old as the iPhone 11 and iPad Air 3.

Ten years of updates, with two launch omissions

The iOS edition includes every major update released since the game’s 2016 debut, through the recent Cosmos update. The App Store overview reproduced by Gematsu describes the same exploration, trading, combat and survival loop available on other platforms.

Two features will not make the initial release: multiplayer and planetary settlements. Digital Foundry says Hello Games plans to support the iOS edition over time, pointing to the way the original Switch version expanded after launch, but there is no announced timetable for either missing feature.

Free opening, $20 unlock

Players can try the beginning for free, then make a one-time purchase to unlock the full game and its included updates. Digital Foundry reports a $20 preorder price.

The port has reworked touch controls and gamepad support, plus mouse and keyboard support on iPad. Hello Games also says it has worked to limit battery drain and heat, though those performance claims have not yet been independently tested. Digital Foundry, citing Polygon’s interview with Hello Games founder Sean Murray, reports that technology developed for the studio’s upcoming Light No Fire helped make the mobile version possible.
