Onimusha and Blood of Dawnwalker Both Vie as GOTY Contenders

Capcom announced Onimusha: Way of the Sword, a dark fantasy swordplay action game set in Edo-era Kyoto, for release on September 4, 2026. The ESRB rated it Mature 17+. Dev team members Nihei and Shibata appeared in a Gamescom 2026 Q&A and gameplay stream. Metacritic lists a PS5 score of 85. IGN gave it 10 out of 10, with the reviewer noting the game's grasp of the desire to be perfect for ten seconds. One player 20 hours in called the combat really good. Nintendo accounts shared a Creator's Voice video where director Satoru Nihei discussed the approach to sword-fighting action.
