Capcom has published the performance targets for Monster Hunter Wilds on Nintendo Switch 2, confirming that every listed mode aims for 30 frames per second.
Docked play offers two presets. Quality mode outputs at 1260p, while the frame-rate option drops to 1080p. Despite the name, the frame-rate preset still targets 30 fps. In handheld mode, the game has a single configuration with an 864p output and the same 30 fps target.
Ray tracing is disabled in all three Switch 2 configurations. The official product table lists ray tracing only for select PS5 Pro and PC settings.
Output resolution is not the whole rendering story
Capcom’s figures describe output resolution and target frame rate. As RPG Site notes, they do not reveal the port’s internal rendering resolution, upscaling method or how consistently the game holds its target during demanding hunts.
That makes the two docked presets more meaningfully different in image quality than in their published frame-rate ceiling. Hands-on testing will still be needed to show whether the 1080p option delivers steadier performance or other responsiveness benefits.
The hunt moves to Switch 2 in December
Monster Hunter Wilds launches for Switch 2 on Dec. 4, 2026. Nintendo’s product listing supports TV, tabletop and handheld play, with local wireless and online multiplayer for up to four players. Nintendo estimates the file size at 39.1 GB.
The port brings Capcom’s large-scale hunting game to a portable Nintendo system, but the published specifications set clear expectations: 30 fps is the target whether players prioritize resolution, choose the docked frame-rate preset or take the game on the go.
