JETMAN will release Kowloon's Gate: Suzaku for Nintendo Switch on October 29, 2026. The date comes with new English and Japanese trailers for a game that revisits one of the original PlayStation era's stranger cult settings.
Gematsu reports that the Switch edition is based on Kowloon's Gate VR: Suzaku. That version launched for PlayStation VR in Japan on October 26, 2017, before receiving a free update with flatscreen PlayStation 4 support on December 21 of the same year.
Finding memories in Kowloon
JETMAN describes Suzaku as both a prequel to Kowloon's Gate and a reimagining of the 1997 game's worldview. Instead of presenting a conventional action game, it asks players to wander the maze-like alleys of Kowloon Walled City and absorb a place framed as being submerged in memory.
The central task begins with an album of photographs. Players use the images as clues, locate the matching places in the city and restore memories through “psychography,” also translated as thoughtography. The system turns observation and place-matching into the main form of progression.
The developer says the city includes angles and locations that were not shown in the original game. Familiar characters and recognizable places also return with a higher-definition presentation. Those details make the Switch release a route into the series' setting without presenting it as a direct remake of the 1997 title.
