TLDR

Posts from users including @LonelyGoomba express disappointment at the idea of Galaxy 3, calling the formula already explored twice and preferring new concepts such as time travel. @mariotwtconfess notes stiff gameplay that some still rate highly. @misterduby and others favor linear platforming challenges over open-world collectibles. @nin10doland suggests any new game must feel bigger in scope after the long wait. @AnotherRosa understands the appeal of the acclaimed Galaxy style while @Valyonetta and @LuigiSidekick reference serious calls for a Galaxy 3 announcement.

@LonelyGoombaI don't understand why people want a Galaxy 3. Waiting like 10 years for a new 3D Mario game and it's something that was already done twice and fully explored already. That sounds so utterly disapointing. I'd want something new and unexpected.
@misterduby@LonelyGoomba It’s more that I’d prefer a more linear 3D Mario that’s more focused on platforming challenges than open world collectathons where it’s more running around looking for things
@nin10doland@LonelyGoomba Shoot, I think even 10 years for a linear 3D Mario game would feel insane as well. To me it also has to be something bigger in scope to wait a decade for.
@AnotherRosa@LonelyGoomba I’m not really a massive Galaxy 3 supporter (mainly because of concerns on how my fav would be handled) but I can understand it, the Galaxy formula is very critically acclaimed by many and it’s been an itch that hasn’t really been scratched for quite some time.
@LuigiSidekickIf the next 3D Mario is actually Galaxy 3 I’ll eat a sock
@mariotwtconfess"Galaxy’s gameplay feels so stiff compared to other 3D Mario games, even the older ones, and I don’t know why people seem to ignore that and give the game a 10/10 anyway."
@ValyonettaOh, Nintendo fans are actually being serious about wanting a Super Mario Galaxy 3 announced next week....
