Xbox reportedly plans a four-day office minimum near Redmond for 2027

Xbox plans to require employees in Puget Sound who live within 50 commuting miles of Studio D to work from the office at least four days a week starting Feb. 1, 2027, according to an internal memo reported by The Verge. The change applies to employees close to Microsoft’s Redmond, Washington, campus, not all Xbox staff.

That is one day more than the three-day office requirement Microsoft asked employees to follow in 2025, The Verge reports. Xbox chief people officer Jacinda Chislum Pearson described the change in the memo as a way to create more opportunities for employees to work together after employee feedback. “Taking advantage of that proximity and working together in person makes it easier to review work, resolve issues, and make decisions without the burden of scheduling another meeting,” she wrote, .
