Destiny 2's first unvaulting pass points to early 2028 for completed porting

Bungie is in pre-production on its first pass at restoring vaulted Destiny 2 content. In the studio's October 2026 community update, head of product Josh Deane said that stage should last until roughly January or February 2027. Bungie then expects about 12 months of full production to complete the porting process.

Together, those estimates point to around early 2028 for completed porting. That is not a release date: Bungie has not announced when players will receive the first pass.

What the first pass targets

Deane said the first pass is intended to be available to all players. It targets the Red War, Forsaken, Curse of Osiris and Warmind campaigns, along with strikes, raids and raid lairs from those releases. Bungie also plans to include the Menagerie activity with reprised rewards, according to its content list.

Free-roam destinations, seasonal activities from Sundial to The Coil, raid and raid lair weapon updates, and PvP maps are stretch goals Bungie is investigating for launch or afterward, not promised parts of the first pass. Bungie is targeting February 2027 for its next major Destiny communications update and says it will share unvaulting progress along the way.
