Playable Need for Speed 2 Easter egg reportedly cut from Need for Speed Heat

A post describing research for a book on canceled video games says Heat’s garage arcade machine was meant to include a playable Need for Speed 2 Easter egg. According to the account, the initial plan was to include the original Need for Speed for its 25th anniversary, but its source code was lost. A developer implemented NFS2 in his own time, but higher-ups didn’t approve it, and the feature never made it into the final game.
