Grasshopper Manufacture regains independence from NetEase
The studio says the negotiated split gives it more publishing options while preserving the companies’ relationship.
TLDR
Grasshopper Manufacture has separated from NetEase Games and returned to independent operation. In a statement published by Gematsu, CEO Goichi Suda connected the move to the studio’s plans after finishing Romeo Is a Dead Man, saying Grasshopper wants to make games in a wider range of styles. The company says the decision followed discussions with NetEase, leaves the door open to future collaboration and comes after Grasshopper expanded its self-publishing capabilities.
