Sony's PS5 update 26.07-14.22.00 is available with security fixes

Sony's PS5 system software update 26.07-14.22.00 is available to download and install, Push Square reports. MP1st also reports that the update is live. Both outlets reproduce the same patch note: “We’ve made some security fixes to the system software.” Neither report identifies a vulnerability fixed by this version.

The release follows another PS5 update from less than a fortnight earlier, according to Push Square. The outlet frames the security work as part of Sony's efforts to curb PS5 jailbreaking, but the reproduced note does not tie this update to a particular exploit. that the fixes may target potential jailbreak exploits and raises a possible connection to Grand Theft Auto 6's approaching launch. It also says it does not know what the fixes address.
