Naughty Dog plans to stay quiet about Intergalactic: The Heretic Prophet for the rest of 2026, then give the PlayStation 5 game a full reveal in 2027. Studio head Neil Druckmann set that timetable in a first-party update published after The Last of Us Day, saying the next presentation will offer a proper look at protagonist Jordan's science-fiction adventure.
The update stops short of announcing a release date. Druckmann described Intergalactic as Naughty Dog's most ambitious game yet and said its pieces are still coming together, framing the 2027 reveal as the point when the studio is ready to show the project “in all its glory.” The game was announced for PS5 in December 2024.
Naughty Dog accompanied the note with new Intergalactic artwork. It shows a lone figure carrying a red-bladed weapon in a vast alien forest, but the studio did not label the image as gameplay or an in-engine screenshot. That distinction matters because some social posts attached to the story speculated about how the image was rendered.
Two more stories in The Last of Us universe
The same note confirms that Naughty Dog has “a couple” of projects set in The Last of Us universe in very early development. Druckmann said both will expand the canon beyond The Last of Us Part I and Part II, while cautioning that the studio cannot yet say much about either one.
No titles, platforms or release windows were disclosed. Naughty Dog also did not identify the format of the projects, so they should not yet be treated as two confirmed games. Gematsu highlighted that limitation in its report on the announcement.
Druckmann said the studio would not return to The Last of Us unless it had something meaningful to add and believes these stories are worth telling. The update followed a Last of Us Day stream that raised $11,000 and counting for AbleGamers, according to Naughty Dog. For now, both parts of the studio's roadmap remain deliberately broad: Intergalactic gets a promised 2027 showing, while the Last of Us projects remain unnamed and at an earlier stage.
