October 18 marks 15 years since Batman: Arkham City launched in North America on PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360. An anniversary post revisited the 2011 release, while DC’s official game page lists the October 18 on-sale date and credits Rocksteady Studios as developer and Warner Bros. Games as publisher.
The sequel expanded beyond the confines of Batman: Arkham Asylum into Arkham City, a fortified district built inside Gotham City. WB Games describes its play as a mix of melee combat, stealth, investigation and speed-based challenges, with a new story set among the district’s criminals.
DC’s cast list brings together Batman, Catwoman, the Joker, Two-Face, Mr. Freeze, the Penguin and a long roster of allies and villains. The official page classifies the game as an action-adventure title and lists Xbox 360, PlayStation 3 and PC among its platforms.
