Call of Duty calls out Nero over advertised Ranked Play boosting

Call of Duty's community team publicly confronted pro player Dylan “Nero” Koch with his own advertisement for a paid Ranked Play boosting service after he asked for help with a temporary restriction, Dexerto reports.

Nero posted a screenshot on Sept. 24 showing a notice that his account, or an account in his party, was under review and temporarily suspended from Black Ops 7 Ranked Play. After he tagged the Call of Duty Community Team, the account replied, “This you?” alongside a now-deleted post advertising his service.

Dexerto describes the offer as letting customers pay Nero either to play on their accounts or to join them and carry them toward higher ranks. Nero acknowledged the service in his replies. He argued that he turned to it because Ranked Play lobbies contained hackers and cheaters, and he said similar arrangements were common among other players.

A temporary restriction, not a confirmed permanent ban

The public exchange does not establish Nero's final penalty. His screenshot described the account as under review and temporarily restricted, and Dexerto reported no further update from him before publication.

Activision's Call of Duty Security and Enforcement Policy says Ranked Play restrictions can last for the remainder of a season, continue across multiple seasons or become permanent. The policy also allows restrictions to be lifted. That range makes the unresolved status important: a public rebuke is not the same thing as a completed appeal or a permanent ban.
