Capcom has detailed how Monster Hunter Wilds is expected to run on Nintendo Switch 2, and the portable system's top output-resolution target is higher than the one listed for Xbox Series S.
According to Capcom's platform comparison chart, the Switch 2 version targets 2240×1260 at 30 frames per second in docked resolution mode. Its docked frame-rate mode targets 1920×1080 at 30 fps, while handheld mode targets 1536×864 at 30 fps. Xbox Series S is listed at 1920×1080 and 30 fps.
Two docked modes, one frame-rate target
The two docked Switch 2 settings share the same published 30 fps target, so the label “Prioritize Framerate” does not mean a 60 fps option. Capcom has not published the internal-resolution ranges or other visual settings that separate the modes.
The company also cautions that the listed figures are output resolutions, not guaranteed native rendering resolutions. Render resolution changes with system load, and the game applies upscaling when it falls below the output target. Capcom says frame rates may also drop during demanding scenes.
As RPG Site notes, that makes the comparison less straightforward than the headline numbers suggest. The targets show Capcom aiming for the same nominal frame rate as Series S, but they do not establish which version will hold its target more consistently or deliver the sharper final image in play.
Monster Hunter Wilds is scheduled to launch on Switch 2 on Dec. 4. It is already available on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S and PC.
