Aspyr is bringing Monolith Productions’ two Middle-earth action games to Nintendo Switch 2 on September 30, packaging their expanded editions together as Middle-earth: Shadow Bundle.
The official Nintendo product page lists the collection at $34.99, half of its $69.99 regular price. Gematsu reports that the reduced price is a limited pre-order offer and that each game will also be available separately. That gives players a choice between the complete two-game package and either standalone edition.
What each edition includes
Middle-earth: Shadow of Mordor Game of the Year Edition includes the Lord of the Hunt and The Bright Lord story missions, the Guardians of the Flaming Eye warband mission, and additional warband missions, runes and character skins. Its campaign follows a fight through Mordor against Sauron’s forces.
Middle-earth: Shadow of War Definitive Edition packages the sequel with all of its downloadable content. Its two story expansions are Desolation of Mordor and Blade of Galadriel, while the Slaughter Tribe and Outlaw Tribe packs expand the Nemesis System with new Orc groups, missions, enemies, followers, equipment and fortress activity.
The bundle is built around that Nemesis System. Nintendo’s listing describes Orc rivals who remember past battles and encounters, while Wraith abilities can turn defeated enemies into captains for the player’s army. Shadow of War broadens that structure around large fortress battles.
A collection, not a new sequel
These are the existing complete editions adapted for Switch 2, rather than a newly announced entry in the series. Gematsu notes that both games were previously released for PlayStation 4, Xbox One and PC, while Shadow of Mordor also appeared on PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360.
The inspected announcement material does not specify frame rate, resolution, file size or a physical edition. For now, the confirmed package is the two expanded games, sold together or separately, with the Switch 2 launch set for September 30.
