Amazon US lowered its invitation-only listing for the Pokémon TCG: 30th Celebration Elite Trainer Box to $83.44 on September 18, but the button offered a place in line rather than a box. IGN reported that Amazon was accepting invite requests and had not yet sent the emails that would let selected shoppers complete a purchase.
The new price was down from the $89.99 that IGN had previously seen. It remained above the product’s suggested retail price, but IGN said it was roughly $96 below the box’s market resale value on TCGplayer at the time of reporting. That comparison can move with the secondary market, while Amazon’s invitation system adds a different uncertainty: asking for an invite does not guarantee that one will arrive.
What comes in the standard box
The Pokémon Company’s product guide says the standard Elite Trainer Box contains nine 30th Celebration booster packs and a full-art Nidorina promo card. It also includes 65 card sleeves, 16 foil Basic Energy cards, damage-counter and coin-flip dice, a plastic coin, six dividers, a storage box and a player’s guide.
That package is distinct from the Pokémon Center edition, which includes 11 packs and an additional Nidorina promo bearing the Pokémon Center logo.
The 30th Celebration expansion launched worldwide on September 16, two days before IGN’s price update. The set contains more than 150 cards, including 30 Pikachu variants and a Classic Collection built around cards from the game’s history. For shoppers watching Amazon’s listing, the immediate question is not just whether $83.44 beats the resale market, but whether Amazon will turn an invite request into an actual offer.
