Alliance Arts has canceled the public demo for Drunken Goddess Reflux that was scheduled for October 19. The company will instead invite a limited number of players into a closed online playtest.
Why the public demo was canceled
Alliance Arts said it had planned to let players post and stream footage under certain restrictions, but concluded it could not properly manage those rules for a public release. It also said it was concerned that people could use AI or other tools to imitate the game's presentation and gameplay, then release a copy before the original game launches.
That second point is a concern raised by the company, not evidence that anyone has already copied the game.
How the closed playtest will work
According to the participation instructions, applications are open through the official WHO YOU Discord server until October 22 at 11:59 PM JST. Participants will be chosen by lottery and receive Steam product codes by email.
The test is scheduled to run from October 23 through October 31, with all dates given in JST, although Alliance Arts says the exact times may change. Applicants must be at least 15 years old, have a PC capable of running the Steam build and join the Discord server. Minors need permission from a parent or guardian.
The prohibits streaming or sharing gameplay videos, posting spoilers outside the official Discord, distributing playtest codes and releasing copies or imitations of the game. It also bars participants from uploading playtest material to AI services, using it for AI training or having AI analyze the build. Players selected for the test will be asked to submit feedback through a dedicated form after playing.
