Silent Hill: Townfall launched September 24 on PS5, Steam and Epic Games Store. Konami and Annapurna Interactive announced the release on Thursday, while the game's official order page linked all three storefronts.
A full-length first-person entry
Screen Burn Interactive developed the game, with Annapurna Interactive and Konami serving as co-publishers. Konami describes it as a full-length, self-contained psychological horror story set on the Scottish island of St. Amelia in 1996. It is also the first full-length Silent Hill game presented entirely from a first-person perspective.
The release is an offline single-player game rather than a smaller multiplayer experiment, according to the PlayStation listing. Konami's product material frames it as a complete entry that newcomers can follow without another game supplying the ending.
A pocket television replaces the familiar radio
The story follows Simon Ordell, who is called back to St. Amelia to “put things right.” The town appears abandoned beneath heavy fog, and Simon's search for his connection to the island gradually exposes fragments of its past, according to Konami's official overview.
Players can evade threats or fight with melee weapons and firearms. The signature tool is the CRTV, a pocket television that can tune into unstable signals carrying warnings, story fragments and puzzle clues. Konami's product material also promises multiple endings shaped by the player's actions, along with a dynamic score by Pilotpriest.
What the launch editions include
The US PlayStation Store lists the PS5 Standard Edition at $49.99 and the Deluxe Edition at $59.99. The Deluxe package includes a bonus application and an alternate outfit for Simon. The store labels the game as offline single-player and PS5 Pro Enhanced.
The same listing identifies 22 accessibility features. They include advanced subtitles and captions, large-text options, basic adjustable difficulty, simplified quick-time events, manual saving, controller-remapping support and an option to reduce camera motion and other effects that may cause visual discomfort.
Konami's earlier release announcement said physical copies would be limited to PS5. The PC release is available through Steam and the Epic Games Store.
