Red Bull chief designer steps down on eve of F1 season
Interesting Craig Skinner decided to step down right before the start of the season, but I can imagine how challenging it is to run through an entire F1 season year after year. There's no downtime anymore...even with the Summer Break, 24 races globally is taxing and the team at the factories I imagine have no downtime at all between races trying to sort through fixes & upgrades throughout the year.
And maybe some of this also has to do with Mekies now leading the team, and he's able to assert himself more now that he's had some time under his belt.
RacingNews365 reports that Red Bull Racing's chief designer, Craig Skinner, has stepped down ahead of the 2026 F1 season after 20 years with the team. Skinner, who played a pivotal role in the development of the RB19 car, left the team under undisclosed circumstances. Red Bull has expressed gratitude for Skinner's contributions and wished him well for the future.
