We all know America loves fast food — but opinion on the best chain restaurant in the US varies from state to state.

To find out which are the most- and least-loved fast food brands in America, CashNetUSA analyzed Google Maps reviews for each of the country's fast food chains and ranked them from the highest to lowest-rated.

Key findings:

  • Chick-fil-A is the highest-rated fast food chain of them all, coming first in 34 states.
  • The least-loved chain overall is Papa John’s, receiving the lowest rating in 16 states.
  • When it comes to burger restaurants, Five Guys is America’s favorite, while McDonald’s and Burger King are tied as the lowest-rated.

Zaxby's is the Five Guys of fast chicken.

There is ltierally 0 Day Light Donuts in Texas... The main donut chains are Krispy Kreme and Shipleys. Culvers being the top rated burger in Texas is also questionable considering the zeitgeist surrounding WAB...

You heard it here first: according to this survey, Best pizza in NY is Chuck E Cheese's. Ha Ha!

  4. Braden Schaeffer 5 months ago

There is... one Daylight Donuts in Georgia. Where the heck is this data coming from? Chick-fil-a was founded in GA, right? Ridiculous.

Interesting graphics. Of course these are generalized national ratings for national chains and dosent take into consideration more localized chains. I do find it interesting in the comments that some people that have never heard of these chains in their neighborhood act as if they didnt exist at all. Side note: KFC is the most internationally recognized fast food chain.

What's with all the Papa Murphy's in the comments. All I see are Papa John's.

Fast food is destroying us indirectly

Chic fil a is the best ,not sure why you think that best chicken sandwich out there

These infographics are bad, I've literally never heard of half these restaurants. I've lived in North Carolina for most of my life and I've never seen a Papa Murphy's or a Calvers. Everyone I know swears by Cookout for burgers, and for pizza I think most people prefer Domino's or Pizza Hut. And I know Chick-fil-A is good and all but come on, Bojangles??

Yeah this is ridiculous, there is ONE Chick Fil A in Montana and it's in freaking Kalispell.

It's actually Culver's, I'm not certain that is a typo. Their burgers are not good IMHO, their frozen custard is though. I'm with you though on Papa Murphys. I have never heard of them. I looked them up, they are only in the eastern part of the state and sell uncooked pizza. How is that fast food?

    3. Chad Peterson 1 year ago

Also, Taco Bell isn't Mexican food. Chipotle, sure, but Taco Bell is very clearly Mexamerican.

I live in Arizona, I've never seen or heard of Lamar's coffee and donuts

    1. Stefan Huddleston 1 year ago

I live in Colorado and same, they are all in the Denver area and north, none in most of the state.

This is funny. They compiled the highest average rating without using sales as a weight So if a state has just one restaurant of the chain, and that restaurant receives good ratings, it then becomes the "most popular" restaurant, despite few people in the state even having heard of it.

That said, even though the data is useless in its current form, the visualizations are nice.

Another failed Digg infographic. Garbage in- garbage out, said every stats professor ever! Kinda fascinating that whoever generated this got a potentially biased result and didn't even blink. Evangelical Protestant meme food more popular than ethnic food from a different religion (pizza?) Run this thing on a Sunday of course, and you'll get a very different (undoubtedly more accurate) result.

  13. JD Silverthorne 1 year ago

    Outrageously inaccurate.
It’s like they asked one person what their favorite and least favorite restaurant was in each state and this is what they came up with.

    1. Doug Lough 1 year ago

The stats are based upon sales not asking 2 people on the street. Its all about the numbers.

      1. Unknown 5 months ago

That cannot be true. Daylight Donuts is supposedly the favorite donut stop for Texas. There are 0 in Texas...

  14. Jason Latham 1 year ago

I live in Chicago and I've not once ever seen a Papa Murphy's anywhere in Cook county or any of the ring counties.

    1. Doug Lough 1 year ago

There is one north of Crystal Lake and 6 between Chicago and Springfield

    2. s p 1 year ago

Papa Murphy's entire business model is based around the fact their food is served cold and needs to be heated first at home. This allows their customers to use EBT/WIC for purchases. No one eats Papa Murphy's because its good pizza, although it's not disgusting either.

  15. Brett Johnson 1 year ago

Wow, who was the intern that turned this in? Probably someone who also works at Papa Murphys.

I've lived all over the state of NC for 37 years and I've literally never heard of Papa Murphys Pizza. Maybe they ranked high because there's only 10 in the entire state.

  17. Elspeth Tasciono 1 year ago

    Whoever researched this failed badly.

  18. Jim Orchard 1 year ago

There is exactly ONE LaMars Coffee and Donuts in AZ, how is it the top rated?

  19. Jukeboxpunk 1 year ago

How is NH's top rated Chick-Fil-A? There are only 3 in the state and they all reside on the boarder of Massachusetts and NH and are within close proximity of each other. Never been to a Chick-fil-A in NH before. Who the hell deemed it top rated in NH and other states? It wasn't consumers. Is this a paid ad for Chick-fil-a?

    1. Anthony Adams 1 year ago

I know exactly what you mean. I haven't eaten at a Chick-fil-A in years. I don't really know who has eaten at a Chick-fil-A in years. I admit that in my county there is an element of politics about Chick-fil-A because a county commissioner owns the only Chick-fil-A in the county, nevertheless even when I moved away for a while I didn't know anybody to write a Chick-fil-A.
