Exchange Server update: Security patches missing this month
Microsoft has confirmed that no Exchange Server security updates were released for January 2026, including for Exchange Server Subscription Edition and versions on ESU support.
This means organizations running Exchange need to be mindful of their patch calendars and plan ahead, especially if they are still on older versions.
Have you noticed any impacts from this gap in updates? What’s your approach to keeping an Exchange estate secure and up to date?
Also curious to hear how teams balance legacy on-prem servers with hybrid or cloud migration plans as support timelines evolve.
Microsoft has announced that there will be no Exchange Server security updates for January 2026. This decision applies to all versions, including Exchange SE and those using the Exchange 2016 and 2019 Extended Security Update (ESU). The Exchange Team urges customers to upgrade to Exchange SE to ensure they receive ongoing security updates.
