Colonel Barry M. Johnson - January 18, 2026
Colonel Barry M. Johnson was the Vice Wing Commander of the 177th FW NJANG, Atlantic City IAP, New Jersey. Barry was born in Spring Lake Heights, New Jersey and graduated from Neptune High School in June 1966. He enlisted in the United States Air Force in July 1966. He was awarded an Associate Degree from the Community College of the Air Force in 1978.
His military education includes Air Command and Staff College, April 1991, and Air War College, June 1994. His enlisted career spanned 15 years serving in various specialties in Aircraft Maintenance, Supply, Logistics and Airborne Reconnaissance. He served two short tours and two long tours in Southeast Asia at Utapao Air Base in Thailand from 1967 to 1969, and in Korat Air Base, Thailand from 1970 to 1971. He separated from active duty in December 1972 and enlisted in the New Jersey Air National Guard as a Jet Engine Mechanic working on F-106 aircraft.
Completing civilian education, he was commissioned in 1981 as a First Lieutenant Supply Officer. Colonel Johnson and his wife had two children.
