LLOUD announced that Always Lalisa will begin cinema and IMAX screenings on October 12. The company said audiences in select territories will also see a “special look” at Lisa’s new EP before the documentary.

The film follows Lisa during a year away from Blackpink as she pursued solo projects. The Hollywood Reporter says that period included the release of her first full-length album, Alter Ego, an acting role in The White Lotus and a solo Coachella appearance. The documentary also visits Lisa’s family and friends in Thailand and follows her return to South Korea to reunite with Blackpink.

Director Sue Kim told THR that she wanted to include more Blackpink songs, music videos and trainee-era material, but the production could not secure licenses for the music or footage. THR identifies Lisa’s new EP as Press Play, due October 23, and says Always Lalisa will play in theaters for a limited time beginning October 12.

LALICE UPDATES@LaliceUpdatesvia BBC UK: The (docu) movie ends in June 2025 as #LISA returns to Seoul and rejoins Blackpink. As she unpacks her bags, she is clearly conflicted. "It's bittersweet, and I think that's OK," says (Director) Kim. "I don't think people should take it as like, 'Oh, she hates Blackpink'. It's more that she was reflecting on this year of freedom and worrying that she wouldn't be able to retain that. And that's a very astute fear to have." @wearelloud #AlwaysLalisa3h
