Seven Bucks reportedly developing live-action Medusa movie for Disney

Seven Bucks is developing an original live-action Medusa movie for Disney under its deal with the studio, Anthony D'Alessandro reported in Deadline on Nov. 6, 2026. Michael Montemayor is writing the first draft.

Dwayne Johnson is producing alongside his Seven Bucks partners Dany Garcia and Hiram Garcia, with Melissa Ford overseeing the project. Matt Smith is also producing through Electro Corduroy Entertainment. Johnson's involvement comes with a qualification: Deadline described the film as “not a starring vehicle for Dwayne Johnson at this point in time.”

Montemayor previously worked on Disney's live-action Tangled, according to Deadline. His Medusa assignment is still at the first-draft stage, rather than a completed screenplay.

Medusa is the snake-haired Gorgon of Greek mythology who turns people who look upon her to stone, as Deadline describes her. Which parts of that mythology Montemayor will use remains outside the report's disclosed story details: his take is being kept under wraps.

Deadline's report did not name a Medusa director or cast, or give a filming schedule or release date.
