Cynthia Erivo calls out scrutiny of her friendship with Ariana Grande during the 'Wicked' press tour

Variety, citing Erivo’s interview with The Guardian, reports that she pushed back on scrutiny of her friendship with 'Wicked' co-star Ariana Grande. Erivo said people questioned their closeness and emotional moments on the press tour, but would have criticized them for showing no emotion, too. She also objected to being called Grande’s 'bodyguard' after intervening when a man grabbed Grande at a Singapore premiere, calling the label rooted in misogyny and misogynoir.
