Neil Young sues Trump 47 Committee over rally use of ‘Rockin’ in the Free World’

Variety reports Neil Young filed a copyright lawsuit against Trump 47 Committee Inc., alleging it played “Rockin’ in the Free World” without a license at an October 12 rally in Youngstown, Ohio, and at other rallies. Young seeks $10 million in damages and an injunction against further political performances. According to the suit, an earlier Trump campaign group settled a 2020 case over the song and promised not to use it again without Young’s permission.
