Disney bids on Character.ai assets

Variety reports that Disney bid on Character.ai assets as the chatbot provider filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy. The Los Angeles Times reports Character.ai said Disney agreed to pay $20 million to license certain intellectual property before the filing. Character.ai says its platform will keep running during a court-supervised sale process, but could wind down if no bid allows it to continue operating.
