Jonathan Hickman has read 'Avengers: Doomsday' scripts and seen unfinished scenes

Comic-book writer Jonathan Hickman told Gavin Sheehan in a Bleeding Cool interview published Oct. 21, 2026 that he has been reading scripts for Avengers: Doomsday during its development and has seen unfinished scenes. Hickman said he consults for studios and reads almost all the movies they are making while those films are in development. He did not describe a specific consulting assignment on Doomsday.

Hickman called it “fascinating” to watch Doomsday change over the two and a half years he had been reading its scripts. In his account, there was “a big shift” when the Russo brothers and Steven McFeely returned and Robert Downey Jr.'s return to the cast was announced. “I have not seen a final cut or anything like that,” . He described watching scenes before special effects were added, then seeing a finished version of those scenes later.
